Spirit & Truth

At the Fayetteville Church of Christ our goal in worship is much like our worship itself - Simple. We aim to replicate the Biblical example set for us in the New Testament. In doing this our services are genuine as we aim to present ourselves as a living sacrifice and discern the good, pleasing, perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)

Below you will find more about our worship.

How Do We Worship?

SINGING

Every service we lift up praise to God through singing. You will probably notice that our singing is not accompanied by musical instruments - instead, we choose to use our voices to sing and make music to the Lord as we are asked to in Ephesians 5:19 & Colossians 3:16.

PRAYING

In Philippians 4:6 we are told that we should not worry about anything, but rather we should give thanksgiving to God and bring our requests to him. Throughout our service, we humble ourselves as we are led in prayer before the throne of God to give thanks and ask for guidance.

TEACHING

Every service we have one teacher lead us in the study of God's word. (1 Corinth 14:40) The teaching portion of our service is designed to encourage, challenge, and teach the congregation the lessons we find in Gods word. We encourage everyone to take notes and follow along in their Bible so that we all may learn and study the scriptures together. (Acts 17:11)

COMMUNION

Every Sunday (Acts 20:7) our congregation assembles to observe the Lord's Supper.
During communion, one of our brothers will take a loaf of unleavened bread, bless it, and pass it from person to person. Then he will take a cup containing grape juice, bless it, and pass it also. We follow this communion pattern from what we read in Matthew 26:26-28 & 1 Corinth 10:16-27) which was introduced by Jesus over 2,000 years ago.

Participation

While we encourage everyone to sing, pray, study, and commune with us - no guest is ever singled out, called on, or questioned during our service. If you choose not to participate you are welcome to listen & observe, or simply pass along the communion or collection when it is offered to you. We are always happy to answer any questions or discuss scriptures with anyone. It is never our intention to make anyone uncomfortable during our worship service. We always hope to make you feel welcomed, valued, and at home when you worship with us.
